Cider Selection
Heirloom Series
Traditional European cider varietals and heritage North American apple varietals are the focus of our Heirloom Series. For centuries, British and European cidermakers have used cider-specific varietals to impart complexity in cider that ordinary eating apples cannot achieve. Cider made from bittersweet and bittersharp varietals in places like Herefordshire and Somerset delivers earthy phenolic aromas and appealing astringency that, to this day, distinguishes this style of cider as “the cider for cidermakers.” Most of the varietals we grow at Sea Cider are of this lineage, and include Dabinetts, Kingston Blacks, Chisel Jerseys and Yarlington Mills.
Sea Cider’s Heirloom Series of ciders pays tribute to apples that have stood the test of time and produced some of the world’s finest cider. The ciders in this series are handcrafted on our farm and have been developed to highlight the robust varietals deeply rooted in tradition.
Products in the Heirloom Series include, in preferred tasting order: Perry; Wild English; Flagship; Platinum; Kings & Spies; Bittersweet; Pippins.

Canadian Invasion Series
Healthy land is imperative for orchards and natural areas to thrive, not just for Sea Cider, but for all of us. We all need productive agricultural land to help feed our communities, and this means having healthy and natural areas to provide a balanced ecosystem with clean air, carbon sequestration and habitat for wildlife. At Sea Cider, we pay close attention to the connection between our orchard and the surrounding areas. Our farm comprises both orchard and forest. Our orchard benefits from our forest, which provides wind protection and habitat for birds which feed on harmful insects, while our orchard provides flowers and sunshine for indigenous insects such as mason bees to thrive.
Invasive plants threaten this symbiotic relationship. On the west coast, well-known invaders include the Himalayan Blackberry, Scotch Broom, English Ivy and Daphne. These tenacious plants take over land, pushing out indigenous species and degrading ecosystems. When such invasive species are present on farms and in forests, they inhibit the growth of more beneficial plants, and they degrade soil quality.
To raise funds and awareness, Sea Cider has created the Canadian Invasion Series. Each cider in the series is made by pressing the best of BC’s apples, fermenting the juice with champagne yeast, and then infusing the cider with fruit, botanicals and other ingredients from Sea Cider's farm, forest and surrounding BC farms. With community at its core, Sea Cider supports local non-profits improving our environmental health thanks to sales from the Canadian Invasion Series.

Barrel Series
Centuries before stainless steel tanks were available, it was common practice to age cider in oak barrels. In particular, used oak barrels were once a cidermaker’s most convenient storage option. Their use imparted a range of additional notes to traditional cider, from the spirited notes of rum, gin and bourbon to the wine notes of sherry and fermented grapes.
Our Barrel Series pays tribute to these traditional oak aging methods by using different types of oak to age a selection of our ciders. This imparts a variety of aromatics and flavour notes to the ciders, while creating a complex and structured finished product.
Products in the Barrel Series include, in preferred tasting order: Ginger Perry/Ginger Paradise; Rumrunner; Wassail.
-
GINGER PERRY/GINGER PARADISE | 12.0% | Semi-Sweet - Ginger, Juniper berries & other spices have been prized for centuries for their many uses, from herbal remedies to teas & infused spirits. Ginger Perry salutes this history by infusing our cider with ginger, juniper and fresh pear juice.
- RUMRUNNER | 12.5% | Semi-Sweet - Also known as Prohibition, the secret to Rumrunner lies in the barrel. With rich notes of molasses and Screech rum, this cider is our homage to prohibition and the illicit history of running rum along the picturesque Cordova channel.
- WASSAIL | 14.0% | Semi-Sweet - Infused with orange peel, clove and cinnamon, this is a warming, barrel-aged cider. Waes Hail! To your health!
