Rumrunner Sparkling Cider
Molasses, Caramel, Buttered Rum, Baked Apple

The secret to Rumrunner lies in the barrel. Rich, full-bodied and intriguing, Rumrunner was inspired by Newfoundland Screech barrels and bootlegging off the coast of Vancouver Island during the Prohibition era. This barrel-aged cider opens up to reveal complex notes of caramel, buttered rum, molasses and vanilla.
Raise a glass of Rumrunner and let your apples out of the barrel!
How We Make This Cider
To craft Rumrunner, we start by preparing a blend of rum and our organic cider base, which is aged in oak barrels for up to 1 year. Once the blend has been aged to the cidermaker’s approval, it is pulled out of the barrels and blended with more organic cider made from our most aromatic varietals like Stayman Winesap and Winter Banana apples. This unique blend is finished with a touch of molasses and bottled for your enjoyment!

Barrel Series
Centuries before stainless steel tanks were available, it was common practice to age cider in oak barrels. In particular, used oak barrels were once a cidermaker’s most convenient storage option. Their use imparted a range of additional notes to traditional cider, from the spirited notes of rum, gin and bourbon to the wine notes of sherry and fermented grapes.
Our Barrel Series pays tribute to these traditional oak aging methods by using different types of oak to age a selection of our ciders. This imparts a variety of aromatics and flavour notes to the ciders, while creating a complex and structured finished product.
Products in the Barrel Series include, in preferred tasting order: Ginger Perry/Ginger Paradise; Rumrunner; Wassail.
