Calling all mixologists, we’re introducing January feature cocktail numerou uno, A Winter Walk!
This cool and crisp cocktail is made with homemade apple vodka, rosemary/mint simple syrup and Sea Cider Pommeau! We will have this on feature in the tasting room for the next few weeks. Stop by for a free sample.
3 large locally sourced cider apples (cored and cut into 1/2 inch cubes)
1 x 750ml bottle of Victoria Spirits Hemp Vodka
1 cup certified organic cane sugar
Leaves from 6 rosemary sprigs (plus extra for garnish)
6 Fresh Spearmint sprigs
1/2 oz Sea Cider Pommeau
2 tsp Lemon Juice
1) At least 3 weeks in advance of serving your cocktail, make your apple vodka: place your apple chunks into a large mason jar and cover completely with vodka (save the vodka bottle for later storage of your apple vodka). Seal your mason jar and store in a dark place for at least three weeks. Visit it every so often to turn the apples. Discard your soaked apples and strain the liquid. Pour the liquid through a sieve back into your reserved vodka bottle.
2) At least a few hours in advance make your simple syrup: heat 2 cups water with one cup of cane sugar and herbs until the sugar is completely dissolved and the leaves have lost their green colour. Discard herbs and set syrup aside to cool.
3) To make three cocktails, fil a pitcher with the following; 2 ounces of homemade apple vodka, pommeau, lemon juice and three teaspoons of rosemary mint simple syrup. Stir well. Fill three cocktail glasses with ice, add 1 oz of cocktail mixture and club soda to taste. Garnish with Rosemary or Mint sprig (or both ;))
