Introducing Razz Perry – A Traditional Cider with a Sea Cider Twist!

We’re excited to announce that our traditional Perry is back- with a twist!

Get to know Razz Perry:

A Sea Cider twist on a traditional perry, our Razz Perry is crafted from true perry pears – a type of pear grown only for crafting perry.  We source our perry pears from a century old orchard near our own farm on the Saanich Peninsula – one of the oldest agricultural settlements in British Columbia. Every year the Sea Cider team picks these perry pears to produce a small batch of traditional Gloucestershire-style perry. 

This year, we’ve jazzed up our traditional perry with the playful addition of raspberries and acetification.  Following fermentation with a champagne yeast, our perry is partially acetified then blended with raspberries to create a dry, hazy, delightfully tart libation. Raise a glass of Razz Perry and celebrate with Sea Cider!

Razz Perry is the first product in our new Sour Series, which focuses on ciders and perries which have acetic notes reminiscent of Spanish Sidras. This series has been developed to focus on the unique sharpness and “sour” taste of these ciders, which is developed through acetification – just enough to keep the fruity notes but lend a layer of acetic acid complexity.

Tasting Notes:
•    Appearance: Sparkling, blush, distinctive cloudy – a marker of traditional cidermaking methods and the Sidra style
•    Aromas/Flavours: Fruity and sharp with hints of tart raspberry
•    Acid/Sweetness: Dry, sharp, no residual sugar
•    Mouthfeel: slightly astringent, delightfully tart

Razz Perry is a very limited release, and only available on draught at a few select places around Vancouver Island and Vancouver/Lower Mainland.
